Salford Dance Explosion

The Salford Dance Explosion is an exciting event that brings together schools and dance companies for four nights of vibrant dance performances at the Lowry Theatre in Salford Quays. Each year, Mill Green School is fortunate to be invited to take part, and this year, we proudly presented a dance medley titled “Around the World with Mill Green,” featuring five lively songs.

Our students dedicated ten weeks to rehearsing the routines, showing commitment and determination as they learned every move. On Tuesday, 17th June, we travelled to the Lowry Theatre to perform in front of family and friends. Although nerves were high, so was the excitement, especially during the theatre rehearsal, which was a first-time stage experience for several of our students.

When the evening performance began, we watched the first half of the show, cheering on fellow performers and soaking in the atmosphere. As the second half approached, nerves built while we waited backstage, but our students rose to the occasion. They delivered their medley with incredible energy and enthusiasm, earning a standing ovation and rapturous applause from the audience. Seeing their beaming faces and victorious air punches was a truly unforgettable moment.

To cap off the night, we were invited back on stage for the finale, where our students danced freestyle, confidently showing off their own moves. The atmosphere was electric, and the joy was shared by everyone involved.

Later, on 25th June, we had the honour of performing our Salford Dance once more during the Year 14 Leavers’ Assembly. It was a privilege to be part of such a special celebration and to wish our leavers all the very best for the future.

Although this year’s Salford Dance Explosion has come to an end, we are already planning for next year and can’t wait to give our students another unforgettable opportunity to perform on the Lowry Theatre stage.
