Meet the Governors
The Governors of Mill Green School bring a wealth of expertise to the Governing Body โ you will find an introduction to all of us below.
Sean Lenahan – Headteacher
I have had the privilege of being Headteacher of Mill Green School since April 2022. Mill Green is a vibrant, exciting, forward-thinking school where all staff strive for the best possible outcomes for the young people who attend our school.
I thoroughly enjoy my work in school and as a member of the Governing Body. Our team approach is something that is very important to be and is instrumental in supporting and challenging to ensure the best possible outcomes for young people who attend our school.
Marie Quirkย ย ย ย ย ย ย Co-opted Governor (Chair)
I first became interested in being a Governor at Mill Green School after being a Governor at my childrenโs school and realising that I could bring my experience of this and the knowledge from my work place to benefit Mill Green. I enjoy the challenges I face as a Governor, being involved in all aspects of the school and the changes implemented to push the school forward.
My hobbies are my family, books, cooking and Chelsea FC.

I am a 49 year old father of two who lives locally. My eldest daughter is a past pupil at Mill Green School. I have worked in a number of fields throughout my career, firstly in the music industry and then in the pub, restaurant and hospitality industry. I have ran my own businesses successfully over the past 20 years and have managed very large teams and large capital projects. I have always wanted to put my skills to use helping the local community and a Governor position at Mill Green will hopefully be beneficial to all.

Lisa Moranย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย Staff Governor
I have been teaching now for 13 years, with 7 of those being spent at Mill Green School.ย I thoroughly enjoy learning and experiencing new things alongside our wonderful students and am thrilled to be able to enhance my support of them and the school as a governor.ย I wanted to become a governor to learn more about the everyday running of the school and how I could best support it outside of my teaching roles.ย ย I am looking forward to new challenges and helping the governing body to strive for even more opportunities for our learners to reach their full potential academically and in life.
In my spare time I enjoy baking, spending time with my family and finding new places to eat Afternoon tea.

Paul Lyonsย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย Co-opted Governor
Having had the opportunity to visitย Mill Green School in a professional capacity, I was taken aback by the calm, purposeful atmosphere of the school, despite the wide range of needs the school caters for. I am particularly keen in working with the school and further developing the outstanding level of education, care and support young people which young people who attend the school recieve.
I am currently a Deputy Headteacher in an Outstanding Special School in Ormskirk and live in Halton. I have lived in St Helens previously and understand the complexities of both the community and the cohort of young people who attend special schools.
My professional experience is broad and balanced; I have a wealth of experience in the Special Education sector, particularly in curriculum design, Teaching and Learning and in the monitoring and evaluation of the quality of education in an outstanding school. I also have experience of the pastoral side of school life, ensuring that young people have positive social and communication outcomes as well as academic ones. I am also a proponent of Positive Behaviour Support, being a trained coach and have seen first-hand the impact that it can have on the quality of life for young people who display challenging behaviours. I also have an excellent working knowledge of the leadership and management of Special Schools and I thoroughly enjoy the opportunity that I have to both support and challenge in the role of school governance.
Outside of school, I am a keen footballer, enjoying the game both on and off the pitch. I am an avid supporter of Everton Football Club and regularly attend their home and away games.

Gavin Atkinsonย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย Co-opted Governor
I have a number of yearsโ experience of working within Financial Services, I am currently a Director of Internal Audit for Barclays Bank based out of Knutsford. I became interested in being a part of a school governing body when I returned to the North West after spending several years working in London. Working within, and around, education to support the learning and development of young people has something that has always been of interest to me after initially starting university on a Science degree with QTS. I hope, and believe, the skills I have gained within the financial services industry is able to support the ongoing management and progression of the school as it aims to deliver the best outcomes and meet the needs of learners.
